Welcome, Michelle Brown!
Introduction to the HERO Coordinator
Michelle Brown joined the Department of Career and Technical Education (CTE) as the HERO (Healthcare Education Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator) in August 2017. Her background is in healthcare and education. Ms. Brown worked and taught as Certified Medical Assistant while completing her undergrad degree at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She also holds a Master’s degree in Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix. Her experience at the Community College of Denver, Metropolitan State University and three years at the American University in Cairo, Egypt bring a plethora of knowledge for higher education. Fun fact about Ms. Brown? While in Egypt she had the opportunity to travel and visit 16 countries and loved international travel! Her well-rounded background includes teaching, internship coordination, career counseling and admissions counseling.
While beginning the process of meeting with the deans at the thirteen community colleges to discuss logistics and funding from the WorkACT Grant, Ms. Brown will be doing outreach and marketing for 5 allied healthcare programs:
- medical assistant
- pharmacy technician
- certified nursing assistant
- pharmacy technican
- medical laboratory technician
Brown will also be starting a student ambassador program at the community colleges to assist with healthcare careers outreach at the high schools. We look forward to watching this program grow.
